Last update March 15 2005.

It’s less then two weeks before we leave Holland. At this moment we’ve got mixed feelings. On one hand we’re happy to go and on the other hand we leave our family and friends behind. Our days are filled with goodbyes and farewell-dinners.
I was impressed by the farewell-dinner of my ‘crew’, the people of the business-unit I have been responsible for the past years.

All our stuff stands in the living room now, which we have to put in our car when leaving. It’s really a lot of junk, let’s hope it will fit in the car. Otherwise the cats have to stay home :-)

On Friday March 25 we’ll drive the car to Ancona ( Italy), from there we go by ferry to Cesme ( Turkey). On the ferry the cats will stay in a separate part, we booked a cabin. After 2,5 days we arrive in Turkey, after that it will take approximately 10 hours before we arrive at the boat.

We hope we will see some of our closest friends on our journey.

Vasco da Gama Yacht Rally

We're asked by Lodewijk Brust of S/Y Mistral to help setting up a Turkey-India rally. Departure is planned in October 2005, and a lot has to be arranged before that time.
While we're in the process of working out the details, feel free to inform or enlist when interested. Questions can be mailed to us, or have a look at the site Jolanda has built for the Rally.

Yes the rally is still on, No there are no problems due to the tsunami disaster. Most places we will visit haven't see any damage, and projected arrival in South India is October 2006, a year and a half from now !

Current position

The boat is still in Finike 36 17' N - 30 09' E.
We're still in Holland.

Plans

From Turkey we'll leave for the Pacific. First we will join the Med-India rally (which we help organise) and visit a diversity of countries at the Red Sea and on the way to India. Detailled information on www.redsearally.com.

Next we will go from Cochin (India) to Maledives, Thailand, Maleisia, Hong Kong, Japan (if we get there, Philipines might be a better option...). From there on it's not yet clear how exactly, but we want to go down to get to New Zealand eventually.
On the way back we hit Australia, Chagos, Seychelles, Madagascar, South Afrika. When we still have time and money left we go by St.Helena and Carribean back to the Netherlands, or we might sell the boat somewhere on the way........
